Encolor is seeking a Senior Consultant to support research projects by engaging with Encolor’s Chief Program Officer (CPO), clients, and utility customers and stakeholders. We are looking for someone who is curious, highly responsive, detail-oriented, and people-centered. A successful candidate will be able to work independently and within teams, navigate invention and innovation, learn from mistakes, and challenge themselves and those around them by asking “why.”
Job Summary:
The Senior Consultant brings experience in the utility energy efficiency space conducting research and consistently meeting client deliverables. They have a strong background in energy efficiency evaluation or implementation. The Senior Consultant also plays a key role in driving new business by building and maintaining strong client relationships that lead to new or expanded business opportunities.
Roles and Responsibilities
This is a fully remote position with occasional travel.
Lead and conduct secondary research, reviewing disparate sources such as websites, industry conference papers, utility documents, and regulatory materials; synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights aligned with project objectives and client needs
Lead and conduct primary research, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, listening sessions, workshops, and collaborations with community-based organizations
Design and administer surveys
Support the development, refinement, and application of innovative, people-centered strategies and approaches using established frameworks and models
Create and refine energy efficiency program logic models
Identify key findings from across qualitative and quantitative research and create specific and actionable recommendations for utility clients
Create and deliver powerpoint presentation of results
Write research reports that detail methodology, key findings, recommendations, and detailed results
Takes initiative to identify and recommend alternative approaches that could lead to better outcomes for clients or communities
Support project manager to track progress to goal, budget, and timelines
Identify opportunities for the expansion of existing contracts
Contribute to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in area(s) of expertise
Required Skills:
Sampling strategies
Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative software such as Qualtrics, NVivo, Dedoose, SPSS, or R
Senior Consultant Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy efficiency implementation or evaluation research with utilities
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a consulting environment
Proven experience conducting both secondary and primary research
Experience writing clear, structured research reports
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Experience applying people-centered approaches within the clean energy sector
Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to make connections and ask insightful questions
Comfortable working in ambiguous or evolving situations

$100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
