Encolor is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead projects and support business development by engaging with clients, maintaining strong relationships, and leading or supporting solicitation submissions. We are looking for someone who is curious, detail-oriented, people-centered, and willing to ask tough questions. A successful candidate will be able to navigate ambiguity, learn from mistakes, and challenge themselves and those around them by asking “why.” 

Job Summary

The Senior Consultant brings extensive experience in managing complex projects and consistently meeting client deliverables. They have a strong background in delivering people-focused energy programs and are skilled at engaging stakeholders and communities both in person and virtually. The Senior Consultant also plays a key role in driving new business by building and maintaining strong client relationships that lead to new or expanded business opportunities. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • This is a fully remote position with occasional travel. 

  • Lead and conduct secondary research, reviewing disparate sources such as websites, industry conference papers, utility documents, and regulatory materials; synthesize findings into clear, actionable insights aligned with project objectives and client needs 

  • Lead and conduct primary research, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, listening sessions, workshops, and collaborations with community-based organizations 

  • Support the development, refinement, and application of innovative, people-centered strategies and approaches using established frameworks and models 

  • Contribute to program design efforts through research, planning, design, and evaluation, leveraging tools such as logic models 

  • Manage complex projects by: 

    • Defining detailed steps to execute scopes of work 

    • Analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, and risks of existing project plans and recommending improvements 

    • Supporting the allocation of staff and resources to project tasks 

    • Tracking project budgets and progress toward goals 

    • Presenting project updates to clients and internal teams 

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff 

  • Manage client relationships by proactively addressing challenges and delivering relevant, actionable solutions 

  • Independently identify, pursue, and deliver proposals for new work or the expansion of existing contracts 

Senior Consultant Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a consulting environment 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clean energy implementation, evaluation, or market research with utilities 

  • Proven experience conducting both secondary and primary research 

  • Experience writing clear, structured research reports 

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills 

  • Strong ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders 

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills 

  • Experience applying people-centered approaches within the clean energy sector 

  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to make connections and ask insightful questions 

  • Comfortable working in ambiguous or evolving situations

  • $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
