Key details:

  • This role will primarily assist with programs in Illinois.  Candidates must be within commuting distance to the Chicago area.   

  • Salary: $100,000 to $125,00 per year

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. 

  • Ability to travel up to 5-10%, including occasional out-of-state and overnight travel.

  • Priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply by October 30,2026.  The position will remain open until filled.

Job summary:

The Senior Consultant role focuses on translating insights from community-based organizations (CBOs), small and emerging businesses, field teams, program administrators, and evaluators into effective program strategies to meet overarching program objectives. 

Working across a complex network of partners, this individual identifies emerging needs, assesses program implementation, develops and refines strategies, and coordinates initiatives that advance program goals.

The ideal candidate is an experienced program strategist and implementer who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, connecting information across multiple workstreams, and moving complex initiatives forward with minimal oversight. This individual is equally capable of developing a strategic response, facilitating a productive discussion, and translating decisions into practical next steps.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of program strategy and implementation

  • Lead the coordination of community-based organization cohort strategy and support

  • Develop small and emerging business strategies

  • Collaborate to achieve cross-partner coordination and program integration

  • Develop communication strategies, training and resources that translates information into program recommendations

  • Identify gaps and develop process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, program implementation, facilitation, training development and the ability to synthesize diverse perspectives into clear recommendations and coordinated action. 

  • Seven or more years of professional experience in program strategy, program implementation, community or economic development, workforce development, capacity building, or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience managing or advancing complex, multi-stakeholder programs or initiatives. 

  • Experience translating program objectives, stakeholder feedback, and implementation insights into strategies, recommendations, and practical solutions. 

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and identify underlying issues and opportunities. 

  • Demonstrated experience independently developing and implementing program strategies, initiatives, or improvement efforts. 

  • Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, or training sessions and adapting approaches to diverse audiences. 

  • Strong written communication skills, including experience developing memos, presentations, reports, or strategic recommendations. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships across organizations, sectors, and professional backgrounds. 

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within established timelines. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and navigate ambiguity with minimal direction. 

  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment as needed.
